So here I am beginning a new life in Tahoe. I have been here for a little over a month, and I am enjoying it a lot. My job is great and everyone I work with is pretty cool. Ryan and I are doing wonderful. He is my best friend and knows how to make me smile and laugh. I will admit, I am getting a little homesick (only a little). I mainly just miss my friends. It's hard to make friends up here, since I am not in school until April. But I talk to my Dad and sisters just about every day.
It's been snowing a lot lately and it is so peaceful, I absolutley love it! However digging the car out is no fun... Luckily Ryan and I both work right down the street, so we are able to walk. We got about a foot of snow when we first got up here right after Christmas, and then there has just been little flurries every once and a while. But then this past weekend we got hit again with a big storm, and got about another foot, ontop of our 5 inch base. We are expected to get a few snow showers the rest of the week.
Ryan says the mountain is awesome and full of powder!!! Unfortunatley I haven't gotten the chance to get up on the mountain just yet. I don't really have the time or money right now. Plus I am a little nervous to get back up on a mountain again. Last year during New Year's, Ryan and I came up here with some friends and I tried to snowboard on a little mountain on the East Shore, called Homewood. I failed miserably. I barely got off the lift, couldn't stand up for more than 5 seconds, and ended up crying and downloading within 10 minutes. I think that skiing might be more for me. I don't enjoy having both feet strapped to one board. I think I will be more confident with each leg free. But now the problem is I am going to be on a HUGE mountian instead of the smaller one, so I am nervous about the heights and the steepness of the mountain. Maybe I should just get some lessons or something. Oh well, you only live once right? I have met a few people who live up here who just don't enjoy the mountain... maybe I can join that group.
My cat, Frances, is still adapting to the change. Poor little guy isn't used to such a small place so he is going kinda crazy. He still is unsure of what the snow is. He sees it falling outside, and we have taken him out in it twice. For the most part we just drop him in a little pile, and he just stands there and looks around. I don't think he can figure out if its wet, or dry, or what exactly it is. He is still too cute!!! I love it!
Well I guess that is it for now, I should get back to working...
